Masu bincike National Confucius Lafiya (NIH) ya gano nauyin dogara ga jiki akan hasken rana a cikin 80s. Binciken su ya tabbatar da cewa rashin haske a lokacin hunturu na iya haifar da rashin lafiyan yanayi. Haske yana toshe fitowar melatonin, hormone na barci, kuma yana haɓaka sigar serotonin, hormone mai aiki da damuwa. 

A yau, fiye da 18% na yawan jama'ar Quebec da fiye da 15% na Faransanci suna fama da blues na hunturu, wanda idan bayyanar cututtuka ta ci gaba, zai iya zama damuwa na yanayi.
